Blast furnace revolution: Semi-coke to replace costly nut coke, boost iron production.
The study looked at using semi-coke instead of nut coke in blast furnace ironmaking to reduce costs. Semi-coke has higher gasification rates and starts reacting at lower temperatures compared to nut coke. It also has lower ash and sulfur content. Mixing semi-coke with nut coke can benefit blast furnace operation and lower the coke rate.
