New maize hybrids show strong correlation between traits for higher yields.
The researchers studied 95 maize hybrids to understand their genetic traits and how they perform in different environments. They found that traits like plant height and ear height have a strong genetic basis and are closely related to grain yield. Traits like anthesis date and texture also play a role in grain yield indirectly. The study showed that certain traits can be used as indicators to select for high grain yield in maize hybrids.
