Major River Tributaries Drying Up, Threatening Water Supply in Zambia
The Ngwerere and Kanakatampa Streams contribute 52.8% and 29.6% respectively to the flow of the Chongwe River. Over 50 years, their contribution has been decreasing by 0.65% and 1.35% per decade. The researchers used the WEAP model to analyze the streamflow data and found that these tributaries play a crucial role in the water resources of the Chongwe River Catchment.
