Eco-friendly Refrigerant Breakthrough Promises Greener, Cheaper Heating for Homes
Heat pumps are a popular way to save energy, but the use of harmful refrigerants is being phased out. Scientists studied a new low-GWP refrigerant called R1234ze(E) for heat pumps. They found that this refrigerant performs well in a water-source heat pump, reaching a high COP and producing hot water efficiently. Compared to the commonly used R134a, R1234ze(E) is a better choice for homes and is cost-effective.
