Climate change threatens forests in North Zagros region, study finds.
The study examined how changes in forest cover in the Zagros region may be linked to climate parameters. Using 30 years of weather data, the researchers found a significant increase in annual and seasonal temperatures. While forest cover changes were not significant, they were correlated with climate parameters. The SAVI index showed the strongest correlation with August temperature, spring temperature, July rainfall, and winter temperature. These findings emphasize the importance of forest managers paying attention to the impacts of global warming on Zagros forests.
