Sprinkler Irrigation Boosts Sweet Corn Yields, Transforming Farming in Golestan
The study examined how adding fertilizers to irrigation water (fertigation) affects corn growth. They tested sprinkler and furrow irrigation systems with different nitrogen levels on sweet corn crops over two years. The results showed that sprinkler fertigation led to higher grain yields compared to the furrow system. In the second year, the sprinkler system produced 4165.3 kg/ha of corn, while the furrow system yielded 2637.3 kg/ha. The study found that sprinkler fertigation was more effective in increasing corn production, with higher grain, cob, biomass, and total dry matter yields observed under this system. The research demonstrated that the method of irrigation significantly impacted the yield and components of the corn crop.
