The article looks at how different rules for companies entering the railway market affect prices and how often trains run in the Czech Republic. They studied three main railway lines and found that open access markets had more frequent trains than regulated ones. Surprisingly, prices were similar across rail and bus markets, suggesting the main company didn't have much power to set prices. People were very sensitive to price changes, showing that competition between different types of transport is important.
