Skilled immigrants face poverty and discrimination post-migration in Canada.
Skilled immigrants face challenges like discrimination and poverty after moving to countries like Canada. These countries focus on attracting skilled immigrants for economic growth, but don't always support their success. Racialized skilled immigrants are especially at risk of facing discrimination and economic struggles, leading to lower living standards and even poverty. Unemployment and underemployment post-migration increase the risk of poverty for skilled immigrants. To help skilled immigrants, we need to address systemic issues and work towards social justice using social work principles.
