Higher temperatures can slow down agricultural productivity growth, especially in low-income countries that rely less on imported inputs. A 1°C increase in temperature can reduce productivity growth by 5.2 percentage points in these countries. However, low-income countries that use more imported inputs are less affected by temperature changes, showing that importing inputs can help offset the negative impact of rising temperatures on agricultural productivity.
