Improved irrigation scheduling boosts Boro rice yields in Bangladesh.
The study looked at how different irrigation schedules affect the growth and yield of five types of Boro rice in Bangladesh. They tested two irrigation methods: one every 8 days and one at specific plant stages. The results showed that the variety of rice had a big impact on growth and yield, with Binadhan-5 having the tallest plants and highest straw yield. BRRI dhan29 had the longest panicles and highest grain yield. BRRI dhan58 had the most filled grains per panicle and highest harvest index. Overall, applying irrigation every 8 days led to higher grain weight, yield, and harvest index compared to irrigation at specific plant stages.
