By using a special composting system with earthworms, researchers found that adding rice straw to the wastewater helped the earthworms grow the most. The compost made from this process had more nutrients that plants need to grow, like nitrogen and phosphorous. This means that by using this system, we can turn organic waste into valuable compost and reduce the risk of pollution on dairy farms.
