Boosting Crop Yields and Soil Health with Integrated Nutrient Management
The study looked at how different ways of giving nutrients to rice and sunflower crops affected their yields and soil health. By using a mix of organic and inorganic fertilizers, they found that substituting some nitrogen with farmyard manure increased rice and sunflower yields over two years. The total productivity of the system was higher with this integrated nutrient management compared to just using inorganic fertilizers. The balance of nitrogen and phosphorus in the soil was mostly negative, except for phosphorus in the second year, while potassium levels were positive due to the nutrient management strategy used.
