Dengue virus uses a protein called STAT3 to help it spread in the body. By studying infected cells, scientists found that STAT3 is activated and helps the virus replicate. When STAT3 is blocked, the virus has a harder time spreading. This shows that targeting STAT3 could lead to new treatments for dengue fever.
