Social networks drive policy learning for climate change mitigation decisions.
Policy learning can change how organizations see and address climate change issues. Social networks play a big role in shaping these beliefs. Research shows that people are more likely to change their views when they get support from multiple contacts in their network. A study on forest conservation policies in Brazil, Indonesia, and Vietnam found that social connections influence policy learning in collaborative settings, but not in conflictual ones. This means that in some cases, people are more likely to learn from others and change their beliefs about climate change policies.
