New strawberry cultivars promise higher yields and better fruit quality in greenhouses.
The study compared seven different types of strawberries to see how well they grew in a greenhouse. Some types flowered faster than others, with Paros and Camarosa being the quickest. Camarosa and Paros also had the most chlorophyll and biggest fruits. Camarosa had the most flowers, fruits, and highest yield. Paros had the highest sugar to acid ratio. Camarosa and Selva had the most anthocyanin. More flowers and heavier fruits led to higher yields. Day-neutral types grew more leaves and flowered earlier, while short-day types had more flowers, bigger fruits, and higher yields. Camarosa and Paros were the best suited for greenhouse conditions.
