Barley-Vetch Intercropping Boosts Yields and Sustainability in Agriculture.
Barley and vetch were grown together to see how it affected their yields. Different combinations of plants were tested in a field experiment over two years. The best results were seen when barley was grown alone, with the highest number of spikes, weight of kernels, and overall yield. Vetch also did better when grown alone, with the most plants and highest yield. However, the combination of 250 vetch plants and 500 barley plants per square meter had the highest land equivalent ratio, meaning it was the most efficient way to grow both plants together compared to growing them alone.
