Stinging catfish boosts profits in Indian carp ponds, revolutionizing aquaculture.
Stinging catfish were raised with Indian major carps in ponds for 5 months. Different stocking densities of catfish were tested, along with feeding them commercial fish feed. The catfish in the lower stocking density group grew bigger and had better food conversion rates. The ponds with lower catfish density also had higher total production and profits. This shows that raising stinging catfish with Indian major carps in ponds is most efficient with a stocking density of 24000 catfish per hectare.
