Juvenile prawns found to have higher protein content than adults.
Fresh water prawns from the Friday Fish Market in Amravati were studied to determine their nutritional content. Juvenile prawns were found to have higher protein levels (73.24%) compared to adult prawns (54.65% and 46.12%). Carbohydrate content was lower in juvenile prawns (1.91%) than in adults (2.45% and 4.3%). Lipid content varied, with juvenile prawns having 5.53% and adult prawns having 4.6% and 6.27%. The study suggests that juvenile prawns are a better choice for consumption due to their higher protein content.
