European countries with open immigration policies face resistance from host populations.
The article explores how different European countries' policies towards migrants affect the attitudes of the local population. By analyzing data from 17 countries, researchers found that some aspects of integration policies can lead to positive attitudes towards migrants, while others may cause resistance. The study used a statistical method called multilevel structural equation modeling to analyze the relationship between immigration policies and attitudes towards migrants. The results showed that the connection between integration policies and attitudes towards migrants is complex and varies depending on the specific policy measures in place.
