Fructose beats glucose in reducing pancreas inflammation and liver fat.
The study looked at how fructose, glucose, and saccharose affect rats' metabolism. Rats were given different sugars for 20 weeks. Fructose lowered blood sugar increase better than glucose and had less risk of pancreas inflammation and liver fat. The types of bacteria in the rats' intestines were different depending on the sugar they ate. Fructose may help lower blood sugar and reduce inflammation and fat in the body compared to glucose.
