Private forest owners in Korea prioritize income over conservation efforts.
The researchers studied how landowners in Korea perceive forest investment and incentive policies. They collected data from 601 landowners and found that those who receive government support prioritize forest-based income, while others focus on asset accumulation. Landowners believe future forest investment prospects are not promising, and incentive policies are not well recognized. The likelihood of forest investment is influenced by factors like age, income, market conditions, and availability of cost-sharing programs. Thinning, tending, road construction, and reforestation are the main priorities for forest investment.
