Reduced irrigation leads to lower tomato yield and quality deterioration.
The amount of water used to irrigate tomatoes in plastic greenhouses affects both the quantity and quality of the crop. When water is limited, the yield of tomatoes decreases, but not in a direct proportion to the reduction in water. Additionally, the quality of the tomatoes, as measured by dry matter, vitamin C, and total sugars, worsens as the amount of water used for irrigation increases.
