Endangered Peccary Species Saved Through Groundbreaking Cryopreservation Technique
The researchers found that using a cryoprotectant solution with 10% DMSO, 50% FBS, and 0.2 M sucrose is the most effective way to preserve collared peccary somatic cells. This solution helped maintain cell morphology, viability, and metabolic activity, while reducing oxidative stress. Cells cryopreserved with this solution showed similar mitochondrial potential to non-cryopreserved cells, indicating better preservation.
