Instability in oilseed production threatens food security in Rajasthan.
The study looked at the growth and variability of major oilseed crops in Rajasthan over the past 30 years. They found that kharif oilseeds had higher growth than rabi oilseeds. The production and productivity of kharif oilseeds had the highest instability in the early period. The area and yield effects were more important for taramira and sesame crops. Overall, the area effect was dominant in changing the output of taramira and rapeseed-mustard during the study periods.
