New Yellow River Channel Reduces Sediment Transport, Affects Water Levels.
The study looked at how a potential new route for the Yellow River could affect water levels and sediment movement. Using a computer model, researchers found that the new route would cause a small change in water levels upstream, leading to higher water levels and less sediment transport after the diversion. Sediment near the new route's entrance would be limited due to weak ocean currents. Sediment concentration increases at a certain distance during high tide but not during low tide, with sediment settling about 41km from the entrance.
