Revolutionizing Potato Farming in Kenya: Boosting Yields with New Fertilizer
Unbalanced fertilization affects potato production in Kenya. Researchers tested compound fertilizer and canola green manure to improve nutrient use efficiency and yield. They found that using fertilizer F4 (900 kg ha-1 of NPK + Ca + Mg + micronutrients) increased potato tuber weight and plant height compared to the recommended F5. F4 also boosted nutrient uptake. Canola green manure did not have a significant impact on plant height and yield, but when combined with F4, it increased plant height and tuber weight. The study suggests using F4 for potato production in Kenya and recommends further research on compound fertilizers' long-term effects on soil and economic feasibility.
