Wind turbines raise temperatures and lower humidity, impacting ecosystem processes drastically.
Wind turbines at the Huitengliang wind power base in China affect air temperature and humidity. By analyzing data from five weather stations, researchers found that wind turbines increase surface temperature and decrease humidity. The impact is most significant in the upwind and downwind directions, with temperatures rising by around 1 degree Celsius and humidity dropping by up to 6%. These changes can impact ecosystem processes and greenhouse gas emissions, affecting the carbon intensity of electricity generation.
