IFRS Adoption in Korea Boosts Comparability of Accounting Information Worldwide
The study looked at whether Korean accounting information became more comparable internationally after adopting IFRS in 2011. They compared Korean firms with EU and US firms and found that the comparability improved after IFRS adoption. The improvement was greater for firms with poor corporate governance. The study suggests that Korean firms achieved the international convergence of accounting information as intended by adopting IFRS.
