Bangladeshi industries waste up to 10% of energy, but simple management practices could slash consumption.
In Bangladesh, industries can save money and be more competitive by using energy efficiently. But many companies there are not adopting good energy-saving practices. A detailed investigation looked at how energy is managed in energy-heavy industries. Companies don't fully implement energy-saving practices, with energy audits being the most common yet still not detailed enough. There aren't enough specialized energy experts in these industries. The main issues are a lack of support from top management and complex bureaucratic processes. Saving on energy costs and following energy rules were found to be essential for improving energy efficiency. However, a lack of information is a big obstacle for getting help from energy service companies. By doing better energy management, industries in Bangladesh could save 8%–10% more energy. Further research is needed to improve energy efficiency in developing countries like Bangladesh.
