Gender disparities in loan access hinder Nigerian agribusiness growth and sustainability.
Gender differences in access to and repayment of Bank of Agriculture loans affect agribusinesses in Nigeria. A study in Anambra State found that male farmers received more loans but female farmers repaid a higher percentage. Factors influencing loan repayment include the type of lending institution, loan amount, annual income, and gender. Constraints to repayment include loan amount, family commitments, income size, and bureaucratic procedures. Increasing loan amounts and reducing bureaucracy can lead to better repayment rates and higher income for farmers.
