Logging quota scheme in China fails to promote forest restoration.
The logging quota scheme in China was meant to control over-harvesting and help forests recover. However, a study found that while it did stop deforestation, it didn't do much to help forests grow back. Instead, other programs and reforms were more effective in increasing forest area and volume. The researchers suggest phasing out the logging quota scheme, especially in areas with lots of commercial forests, and trying out new approaches with big forestry businesses and farms.
