Tillage with straw mulching helps save water in farming in eastern Central China. A study compared different methods on wheat and maize crops. Results showed that using no-tillage with straw mulching increased crop yield and water efficiency. The soil temperature was also affected, with lower temperatures during the growing season. Overall, the no-tillage with straw mulching method had higher yields and better use of water resources compared to traditional methods.
