The article tests if some parts of philosophy are more isolated than others. They looked at different types of philosophy papers and found that Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Value Issues are less isolated than Core Philosophy. Also, general topics in Philosophy of Science and Philosophy of Value Issues are more isolated than applied topics. This suggests that focusing on applied Philosophy of Science and Value Issues could reduce the isolation of philosophy.
