Untimed Visual Illusions Confound Perception, Challenging Theories and Research.
Visual illusions change depending on how long you look at them. Longer inspection times weaken some illusions, strengthen others, and have no effect on some. This means that differences in how strong illusions appear are linked to how long you look at them, not just individual or group differences. This challenges previous theories about how our brains process visual information and how we understand illusions.
