Aging Public Buildings Transformed into Efficient Smart Hubs with Innovative BIM-FM Techniques
New technologies like Building Information Modelling (BIM) and Facility Management (FM) are being used to turn old public buildings into smart and sustainable ones. By creating a 3D model and connecting it to other tools, these buildings can be managed more efficiently. A study at a Civil Engineering School in Madrid showed that using BIM-FM techniques and self-designed sensors can transform a building into a Smart Building without huge investments. The system can be managed online, making information more accessible to staff and users.
