Salinity Levels Impact Giant Freshwater Prawn Embryonic Survival Rates
Prawn farming is a profitable business, especially with the giant freshwater prawn. Researchers studied how different levels of salt in the water affect the growth of prawn embryos. They found that higher salt levels led to fewer eggs but better hatching rates. The embryos developed in about 13 days, with the best survival rate at 12 psu salt level. This study helps improve prawn farming in northern Veracruz, Mexico.
