Soil strength and slope geometry determine slope stability and safety.
The study aimed to understand how soil strength and slope shape affect slope stability. They used an Excel spreadsheet and GEO5 software to analyze different parameters. Results showed that heavier soil makes slopes less stable, while soil cohesion and friction angle make slopes more stable. The angle of the slope also plays a role in stability. When driving forces are stronger than resisting forces, slopes become unstable. The dimensionless function λ, related to soil properties, affects the slip surface.
