Land use changes in river basin impact flooding and irrigation.
Land use changes in the Upper Bernam River basin impact watershed hydrology. The study used the SWAT model to analyze runoff and developed a WBMP-ML model to manage floods and irrigation. Land use changes from 1984 to 2010 showed a decrease in forest area and an increase in urban and oil palm areas. The study used 36 years of flow data to assess the impact of land use changes on the river basin.
