New study reveals ancient winds and origins of Hungarian sediment layers.
The scientists studied sediment layers near Pécel, Hungary, to learn about past wind patterns and where the sediments came from. They found evidence of two possible source areas based on the composition of the particles. The lower part of the sediment likely came from the northwest, while the source of the upper part is still uncertain. By analyzing the chemical makeup of minerals, they identified different layers formed during weathering processes.
