Optimized nitrogen application boosts wheat yield and protein production significantly.
The study aimed to find the best way to apply nitrogen fertilizer to improve winter wheat yield and protein content. Researchers tested different ratios of fertilizer applied at planting and during growth. They found that splitting the fertilizer 50% at planting and 50% during growth led to the highest grain and protein yields. This method increased nitrogen in the grains, improved enzyme activity, and enhanced nitrogen translocation, resulting in better quality and higher yields of wheat.
