High levels of fluoride and nitrate in groundwater pose health risks.
Groundwater in a semi-urban area of south India was studied to see if it's safe for drinking and farming. Samples showed high levels of fluoride and nitrate, which can be harmful. Some areas had water that exceeded safe limits for these substances. The study found that manmade activities are causing groundwater contamination. Most samples were okay for drinking, but many had high salt levels. The research suggests that government agencies should use the findings to make sure people have safe drinking water and crops are grown in healthy soil.
