Decreasing humidity in Australia may worsen water scarcity and extreme weather.
The study looked at how humidity levels in Australia have changed from 1955 to 2020. While the amount of water in the air stayed about the same, the relative humidity decreased by around 1% per decade. This means that even though it's not getting drier, the air is holding less water compared to before. This could lead to more evaporation and less water available, affecting things like rainfall and water scarcity in the future.
