The study analyzed how taxes and government spending in Ukraine affect income inequality and poverty. The researchers found that Ukraine's fiscal system reduces inequality and poverty significantly. Pensions play a big role in this, but direct transfers also help a lot. The poorest people benefit the most from these policies. Overall, 60% of Ukrainians receive more from the government than they pay in taxes, especially households with children, single parents, and retirees.
