New method improves accuracy of statistical tests in data analysis.
The article discusses how to test for variance components in ANOVA models. When the parameter of interest is on the boundary of the parameter space, traditional statistical tests may not work as expected. The researchers developed a Bartlett correction for the Likelihood Ratio statistic and adjusted the Wald and modified Wald statistic to improve accuracy. Numerical experiments showed that these adjustments provide reliable results in real-world scenarios.
