Organic and Inorganic Fertilizers Boost Broccoli Yields, Improve Farmer Incomes
Researchers studied the impact of different types of fertilizers on the growth and yield of Palam Samridhi broccoli. They tested nine fertilizer combinations including organic and inorganic options, like vermicompost and poultry manure. The results showed that using 100% inorganic fertilizer led to the best outcomes, with taller plants, more leaves, and higher head weight. This approach also boosted yield, chlorophyll levels, and ascorbic acid content in the broccoli heads. The economically optimal treatment yielded a high profit and benefit-cost ratio. Ultimately, the study suggests that using a specific type and percentage of inorganic fertilizer can significantly improve the growth and productivity of broccoli crops.
