Newly Discovered Extreme Halophiles Thrive in Low-Salt Environments, Defying Expectations
A group of scientists found new types of salt-loving microorganisms in a spring with low salt levels and lots of sulfur in Oklahoma. These microorganisms are very different from others in the same family and can survive in low-salt conditions. They discovered three new types of these microorganisms, each with its own unique characteristics. This shows that these salt-loving microorganisms can adapt to living in places with less salt than usual.
