The main timber harvest method in Ukrainian forests is clearcutting, with shelterwood also being used. Single tree selection is more common in deciduous forests. Coniferous stands are mostly clearcut, while deciduous stands are mainly harvested using shelterwood. The combined method is less popular. The average logging areas vary for each method. To promote sustainable forestry, reducing clearcutting and increasing shelterwood and single tree selection methods is recommended. This will help maintain diverse, healthy forest stands in Ukraine.
