The filtration bed with suspended media materials effectively removes turbidity and suspended solids from urban landscape water. The study tested this method on Xinhe river in Fengxi new city and found that it can remove 44.50%-77.24% of turbidity and 50.37%-78.85% of suspended solids. Using expended polystyrene filter media and an upward flow direction improves turbidity removal. Particles smaller than 100 μm are the most challenging to remove, but the filter material is effective in this range. This filtration method is energy-efficient, has a long filtration period, and is suitable for treating landscape water.
