Grasslands Boost Food, Pollinators, and Bird Populations Simultaneously
The study tested different ways to manage grasslands to produce food while also supporting other important services like pollination, pest control, and bird habitats. By planting a mix of grasses, legumes, and flowering plants, they found that the grasslands produced more food for animals, attracted more pollinators, and improved soil health. Cutting the grass at certain times also helped provide more food for birds and increased the number of natural pest predators. However, it's hard to find one management strategy that maximizes all services at once, so different approaches may be needed depending on the specific goals for each area.
