Polluted Lake Threatens Livelihoods of Thousands, Urgent Action Needed
The scientists studied Puzhehei Lake's ability to handle pollution to protect its water quality. They gathered data and created a computer model to see how pollutants move in the lake. Their analysis showed that in 2018, the lake had 4090.0t of COD, 401.3t of TN, 34.4t of TP, and 122.6t of NH3-N entering it each year. Most of the pollution comes from different sources, and the lake's capacity to handle pollution changes between dry and rainy seasons.
